Good Morning, Pirates!!!!

Yesterday Victor hosted the FFA district speaking contests.  There were over 150 students competing yesterday!  
Congratulations to; Rowen Tracy - 1st place Creed Speaking and 2nd place Star Greenhand.  Henry Smith- 3rd place Creed Speaking.  Maddy Richards- 2nd place Prepared Speech.  Jack Pederson- 5th place Extempt Speech.  We will see all of you students at State in March! 

Pirate Behavior:

Pirate students stepped it up last week and improved the atmosphere in the hallway significantly.  Woot Woot!  Keep up the good work as we will still be watching for those doing the right thing and handing out those Pirate Pennies.

Being Prepared for class is essential to being successful in school.  Students must come to class READY and prepared to work.  This would include:

1.  Being to class on time

2.  Bringing to class materials such as paper pencil and textbook.

3.  Completing assignments and bringing them to class on time.

4.  Bringing gym clothes and shoes to PE.

5.  Being dressed proper for shop and bringing materials for projects.

6.  Bringing your instrument to band.

Students are expected to come to class prepared.  Those who do will have the opportunity to earn Pirate Pennies.  Those who don’t may walk the plank of detention. ARRRRRR Ye Skally Waggs.

PEP Bus

Criteria:

1.    Cost $5 for students and $7 for adults.  Price covers admittance to one session of the tournament and the bus.

2.    Students must academically eligible and have a good disciplinary report from Mr. Johnston.

3.    25 seats available.

4.    Sign up in the office by 3:30PM on Wednesday.

5.    Must have cash in hand to get on the bus.

6.    Need to either bring a lunch or enough money for two meals.

7.    Bus leaves at 12:15PM

Tuesday 18

· MSGBB vs Corvallis  (H)  5:00 PM

· Pep Bus sign up

Wednesday 19

· All School Pep Assembly 8:15 in the Gym for HS BBall and Special Olympics.

· District Basketball @ Frenchtown.  Boys play at 4:00.  Bus leaves at 1:00 PM.

Thursday 20

· District Basketball @ Frenchtown.  Girls play at 1:45.  Bus leaves at 11:15 AM???  Boys Game TBD Wednesday.

· Pep Band to Frenchtown.  Bus leaves at12:15

· 5th/6th Ski PE

Friday 21

· District Basketball @ Frenchtown.  

Saturday 22

· District Basketball @ Frenchtown.

· State Special Olympics @ Whitefish

·  MSGBB vs Valley  (A)10:00 AM   Bus leaves at  8:45 AM.   (This game is subject to change)

February is Teen Dating Violence and Prevention Month

These school announcements are sponsored by  the Bitterroot SAFE organization.

It would be great if all relationships were healthy ones. But what if red flags come up? Does your partner tell you what you should wear? Are there lots of negative comments about your friends and family? Does your partner try to isolate you from having other friends or interests? Is he or she listening to your ideas and choices, or ignoring them? Does he or she make fun of you or insult you? Does your partner need to be with you 24-7? These are all warning signs that your partner may be abusive. No one has the right to control or hurt another person. If you need help, talk to someone. Your school is full of people who care about you and your relationships. Remember, love IS respect – someone who loves you should never abuse you. Sophomores and Juniors: The Davidson Honors College is offering  a Summer Institute June 15 through 27th where you can live on campus and earn a college credit while having some fun too. The cost for the week is about $700, but there are scholarships for families who are low income. Applications are in the counseling office. The classes offered this summer are Discrete Mathematics, Introduction to Creative Writing and Understanding and Making Movies. The classes are limited to 20 students, so first come first serve. The deadline for applying is April 1st.

High School Rewards Trip this Thursday! (Middle School students' trip is Tuesday 2/25, names, details and permission slips in tomorrow's Ethos.) The below students need to turn-in their permission slips this morning to either Mr. Beckwith or Ms. Anderson. Students on below list can still get a permission slip from either teacher this morning. We will leave Thursday after 1st period and go to Missoula for bowling--> lunch at mall--> then indoor ice skating.
