Congratulations to Bitterroot Culture Campers, Amber Boucher and Cassidy Albers. The girls will have a traditional camp experience later on this summer at Traveler’s Rest, but they met some of their fellow campers on Monday and toured the Kerr Dam in Polson. The dam is built on river mile 72 of the Flathead River, a sacred site to the tribes of the Flathead Indian Reservation. Because the tribes purchased the dam in 2015 it has been renamed the Salish-Kootenai Dam.
The plot of the novel "Wind from an Enemy Sky" by D’Arcy McNickle is centered around the dam construction which was begun in 1931 and completed in 1938. It raised the water level of Flathead Lake by 10 feet after it was completed.

Salish-Kootenai Dam is a concrete, gravity arch dam.
2011-06-07 17-17-11 996.jpgApparently there are lots of stairs at the dam and a camper broke a finger playing Native field games, already.
Culture Camp is not for sissies.  http://sr.photos2.fotosearch.com/bthumb/CSP/CSP778/k20594090.jpg

Question: What did the fish say to itself as it swam into the wall?
