The cost is $20 per student and there is pre-registration open now to secure a spot but the schedule to sign up will not be available until January. If you are interested in attending or finding out more about it please come to Ms. Egelston’s room at lunch this Thursday!

How far would you go for the spirit of adventure??
This is Ernest Shackleton, he joined the British merchant navy at 16 and became a master mariner!
He first went to the South Pole in 1901, getting closer than anyone else had, but had to turn around when he got very ill. Determined to reach his goal, he set off again six years later, getting within 97 miles before weather conditions forced him to turn around!

He left for a third time in 1914, while arriving in the Antarctic, his ship became trapped in ice, the crew had to abandon the ship and they were stranded for almost two years! On the ice! Camping! In the antarctic! Holy Cow! Not one person died throughout that time!

A visiting crew “rehabs” the fire line to protect a home during the 2016 Roaring Lion Fire in the Bitterroot National Forest.  Sixteen homes were lost and damages were estimated at $11 million.
Here is a time lapse video from a Nest Cam posted outside Grantsdale School.

It is believed that this fire was started by negligent campers burning during a risky time of year. Please use caution when enjoying the great outdoors!
Consider participating in the annual K-12 “Keep Montana Green” fire prevention poster contest. See Mrs. Ogden for contest rules!

Food Drive!!!
There is a box for non perishable food items in Mr. Gulman’s Room, Ms. Monta’s Room, Mr. Bruner’s Room, and my room!

Bringing in food is something that we can do  that is simple , yet incredibly helpful. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and not know how to make a difference in the community, well, this is how!

We ALL need help now and then, all of us.

Adventure Poem!
Bilbo's Adventure Song
Farewell we call to hearth and hall!
Though wind may blow and rain may fall,
We must away ere break of day
Far over wood and mountain tall.

To Rivendell, where Elves yet dwell
In glades beneath the misty fell,
Through moor and waste we ride in haste,
And whither then we cannot tell.

With foes ahead, behind us dread,
Beneath the sky shall be our bed,
Until at last our toil be passed,
Our journey done, our errand sped.

We must away! We must away!
We ride before the break of day!
ARGH ya ready for the Book Fair?  It’s here!

Jacob Thomas lost a picture yesterday.  It was a picture of his sister.  It has great sentimental value.  Please let a teacher or Jacob know if you have any information leading to the retrieval of this meaningful item.
